Turn key design and building contract to provide a new enclosed carriage wash facility. Pollution containment was required for the wash water run off. The new Unipart Rail & Cairn Cross Solutions TrackPan with safe walking access were utilised.

Sidings redevelopment and associated drainage works

Polmadie, Glasgow

A new security building and car park facility was required at the entrance to the existing maintenance depot.

The intention of the redevelopment of the sidings at Polmadie depot was to provide a potable tanking facility along with CET discharge facilities and refurbished welfare buildings. This would vastly increase the efficiency and use of an otherwise rundown area.


  • Reinforced concrete footpaths
  • Service channels cast into concrete to enable the distribution of walkway lighting cables
  • Replacement of wooden sleepers for concrete sleepers to provide a great life expectancy of the permanent way
  • Lighting designed to give maximum light on a confined walkway
  • A concrete troughing route was cast into the path for the installation of the lighting bollards, using energy efficient LED bulbs
  • Taking water was distributed along the fence line and race heated and lagged, the pipe work was then taken across onto the footpath by UTX and tanking points
